Will Self-Driving Vehicles Make the Roads Safer?

In the movies, the automobiles all work effortlessly together in an undetected network, seemingly communicating with each other about speed and location to avoid collisions. If another car floats into their pathway, automatic systems take over and hit the brakes, saving the lives of our movie characters. It may seem like a far-fetched idea, but it is really? Many leading manufacturers already have systems like this in place on the road today.

A Night of Horror

So where does that leave us as individuals? As a Nation? Obviously the top two issues deal with race and gun control. One can’t help but the think of Martin Luther King Jr’s famous line, “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” …but what are we to do when the character of so many across the country seems to be filled with hate, confusion, fear, anger, and division?

The Effects of Over Scheduling the Family

The goal of this paper is to explore the effects of overscheduling on families. Getting kids busy in school work and extracurricular activities is not bad, per se. Such activities work well as long as kids enjoy and learn at their own pace and have some time for themselves. While different activities in and out of school enrich children’s perspective of life, parents should not overschedule these activities because a balanced life makes way for more connected families bridged through God-centered experiences.

The Role of Social Media in Court

The effects of social media are not something that most people think about on a day to day basis, but when something someone said on Facebook gets them fired or perhaps even leads police to their doorstep, people start rethinking what they should and should not post on social media. Depending on which study you read, between 56-58% of all Americans are on at least one form of social media. A Pew study in 2014 showed that of adults who use the internet, 74% of them use social networking, making this number even more dramatic.

New Study Shines Light on Distracted Teen Drivers

There are numerous distractions as one drives down the road, at the top of the list is talking with passengers and using cellphones. According to new research, however, these seemingly small activities play a far greater role in car crashes involving teen drivers. Almost 1,700 videos were taken by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety capturing the actions of teenage drivers in the moments before a crash. The study discovered that in nearly 6 out of 10 moderate to severe crashes were the result

FIAT is Winning at Commercials

I am a You Tube commercial hunter. With the wonderful new technology that graces even the most basic cable or satellite services, television viewers no longer have to endure the onslaught of commercial advertisements that break up our beloved shows. I’ll be honest though – I enjoy commercials...for the most part. I like knowing what new products are out there. More so, I like making fun of certain commercials (why does KIA think giant rodents driving their cars will prompt anyone to go buy one) and I like finding those hidden gems, the companies that really nail a commercial. We no longer have to wait for the Super Bowl for high quality commercials as companies seem to be able to do more with less. But with the joy that is the DVR, we skip over commercials and thus miss the magic. That is why I turn to You Tube these days – to watch commercials (too much free time, I know).
